Frequently Asked Questions
What do I do if the monitoring center calls to inform me there is an alarm?
Have the monitoring agent dispatch the police. Someone should meet the police there, but let the police verify it is safe to enter.
Why can’t I arm my system?
Most of the time this is due to an open door or someone walking by a motion detector. Verify all doors are closed and that all employees have exited the building before trying to arm your system.
Why is my security alarm panel always beeping?
There are multiple reasons – do you have the door chime feature turned on? Most keypads will display information regarding the errors.
How often do the batteries need to be replaced in my security alarm control panel?
Silco recommends replacing the control panel battery every 5 years. If you have wireless devices, these batteries will typically last 2-5 years depending on usage.
Do I need phone lines?
No, why pay for expensive business class phone lines when we can install a Cellular Communicator on your system? Cellular Communicators are significantly less expensive and more reliable than the older POTS telephone lines.
